Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to review total and partial ventilatory support, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) as a way of providing spontaneous ventilation, airway pressure release ventilation (APRV), and the characteristics of spontaneous ventilation including respiratory and cardiovascular benefits.
