Abstract

A couple of years ago Chile was accepted in the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development). The only other Latin American country member of OECD is Mexico. Now this organization is starting to publish comparative figures of the member countries that show how Chile stands regarding the rest. According to a report recently issued by “Salud Un Derecho” (Health is a Right), a grass-roots Chilean movement that advocates the reinstatement of solidarity in health financing, the country situation is unfavorable as the numbers show deep inequalities.
