Fisioterapia de la Capacidad Pulmonar con ejercicios aeróbicos controlados en adultos mayores
Physiotherapy of Pulmonary Capacity with controlled aerobic exercise in older adults.
Resumen
Introducción When we talk about lung capacity, we refer to the different volumes of air, which are characteristic of the human breathing process; lung aging is especially prevalent in older adults, who are the most vulnerable.
Objetivos To evaluate the effects of controlled aerobic exercise on breathing in older adults.
Método The population consisted of 60 participants whose average age was 85 years. Prior to the intervention, vital signs were taken, followed by a spirometric assessment at the beginning and end of each physiotherapeutic intervention. A controlled aerobic exercise program was applied five times a week for four months, each session had a duration of approximately 30 to 45 minutes.
Principales resultados When performing the final evaluations in each patient, positive results were obtained, observing a reduction in the pulmonary age in the older adults, as well as an improvement in the progress of the pulmonary capacity, aerobic capacity in relation to the initial evaluations.
Conclusiones Lung age in relation to chronological age was closer in patients who attended all the applied exercise sessions.
