Introducción

In the hydrocarbon industry, pipelines are the most economical means of large-scale land and marine transmission of natural gas and oil. In the transmission of fluids through this type of pipe, the presence of factors that generate internal corrosion must be considered, such as the presence of acid gases, the presence of free water, areas affected by heat, microbial involvement, etc. They can affect both design and performance. Therefore, mitigation and prevention strategies must be developed. This study provides an analysis of risk management related to corrosion with a sequential methodology of risk identification, analysis, evaluation, mitigation and control.

Objetivos

Analyze the operational conditions, control alternatives and mitigation of the internal corrosion process in offshore systems in gas condensate production.

Método

The methodology used in this work is the use of risk-based integrity management systems with established case studies. Risk management that includes its identification, analysis, evaluation (qualitative and quantitative), mitigation and control. The case studies in this degree work include estimated values, the objective of this methodology is to show the operation of the risk management analysis.

Principales Resultados

Once risk management has been applied in the two established case studies: the use of internal corrosion inhibitors and the presence of black powder / corrosion in pipelines of Africa coast, it allows us to obtain both qualitative and quantitative results. For qualitative studies, a study was carried out through two diagrams such as the risk matrix and the bow tie analysis, which allows us to analyze the probability, threats and consequences present. The quantitative analysis was assigned numerical values supported by data in the probability and consequence evaluation. Once identified, the mitigation processes are applied.

Conclusiones

One of the main problems present in the oil and gas industry is corrosion failures, their problem is constant, so it is necessary to implement a risk-based integrity management that allows companies to recognize the risks with higher priority and treat them. Through preventive and mitigating measures such us: dehydration, coatings, buffering, pig cleaning, preventive measures for weld corrosion, preventive measures for microbial corrosion, injection of monoethylene glycol and inhibitors. The use of a qualitative risk analysis through diagrams allows the method to have an easy-to-understand approach. The focus of this study is to show the operation of risk management analysis in such a way that the case studies in this work were estimated values. Therefore, it is recommended to apply this methodology for cases with real values.
